ALPS History

ALPS began from an interest in Adventure Based Learning.  Various trainings were attended such as BOCES Project Adventure, High5 Adventure Facilitator Training and Adventure Basics, Cornell University-The Innovative Team, and workshops at the National Association for Experiential Education Conference.  Continual professional development by the facilitators through Penn State University and Plymouth State in Vermont has enhance the program.

As their interest mounted, the facilitators wanted to share what they had gained in their experiences with the classroom educator.  They have written 3 graduate courses and have delivered the course content through Wilkes University and Penn State University.  They have also been approved by the Penna. Department of Education as an Inservice Provider for Professional Staff Development.

ALPS has presented workshops for various school districts-both to professional educators and to the classroom students upon request.  Mansfield University has request that ALPS be the whole day workshop presenters for the students teachers in between student teaching assignments.
