PREVENTIVE CARE GUIDELINES FOR MEN

 At least once a year, you should schedule a visit with your physician wihen you are NOT sick.  During this visit, you can discuss diet, exercise, medications, injury-prevention, and other needs.

19 to 39 Years

Blood pressure checks yearly and more often if abnormal readings

Men should begin cholesterol testing at age 35

Tetanus-diphthera booster every 10 years

Learn and do self -testicular exams (especially if have history of undescended testicles or family history)

Baseline EKG at age 30 (electrocardiogram)

40 to 49 Years

More frequent Blood pressures checks

Continue with cholesterol checks

Tetanus-diphthera booster every 10 years

Learn and do self-testicular exams

50 to 64 Years

Continue with frequent blood pressure checks

Continue with cholesterol checks

PSA  annually to check for cancer of the prostrate

Continue with self-testicular exams

Colonoscopy  to check for cancer of the colon

Flu shots

Tetanus-diphthera booster evry 10 years

65 and older

Continue with all of the above

Pneumonia shot (with a booster every 6 years)
