Trojan Marching Band

The Marching Band at Troy, comprised of 40-50 members, is a very proud and public extension of the Band program at Troy Area High School.  Members of the unit include woodwind and brass musicians, the Trojan Drumline, the Trojanettes (majorettes), and Color Guard.

Each fall the group performs field shows at all home and away football games, the Bradford/Sullivan County Music Edcuator's Association Cavalcade, and other engagements.  Past themes for field shows include: Hits from Chicago (the band), The Music of John Williams, Pirates of the Caribbean, Chuck Mangione, and music from the opera Carmen.  The band also performs regularly at parades in Troy, Burlington, and West Burlington.

7th/8th Grade Band

The 7th/8th Grade Band is comprised of instrumental musicians in grades 7 and 8 at Troy Middle School.  It is a non-auditioned ensemble that rehearses twice a week during the school day.  Instruction in this group during full ensemble rehearsals and pull-out lessons involves an emphasis on advancing musical skills, such as posture, breathing, tone, intonation, rhythm, technique, dynamics, and articulation, using method books and band repertoire.  Other skills learned include developing good practice habits, self-disipline, self-control, and responsibility.
